AI sports management, free
Rally runs leagues, tournaments and teams from plain sentences. Tell it “eight teams, two groups, Sundays from March” or hand it last season's PDF, and it builds the competition, the fixtures and the table. Tell it you can't make Saturday and your manager knows. The assistant is built in and free, and Rally also works from Claude, ChatGPT or Grok if you already use one.
AI league scheduling
The part of running a league that eats evenings is the schedule. Rally's assistant does it from what you already have:
- From a sentence. “Make a round robin for these ten teams, one round a week from September 7”, or a double round robin, or a weekend tournament with group games and finals.
- From a PDF, a CSV or a photo. Attach the schedule the league already sent out and ask it to enter it. Teams, groups, venues and dates come across together.
- With your rules. Say “Riptide only plays Sundays 10 to 2” or “rotate the early kickoff” once and Rally keeps it as a scheduling guideline: a hard rule, an aim, or a note. Every later conversation reads them before it schedules anything.
- Checked before it's saved. It previews the fixture list and points out names off the roster, duplicates, games across groups, and missing times or places. New fixtures stay drafts until you publish them.
- Then the season. “Riverside beat Harbour 3-1” updates the table with your own points rules. “Move week 6 to the 14th” moves it in every subscribed calendar.
An AI team manager
For the person who runs one team, the questions are always the same. Connect Rally to Claude, ChatGPT or Grok and ask them there:
- Who's coming Saturday?
- Add a practice every Tuesday at 7 at Centennial until the end of May.
- Rest Sam and Priya this week and tell me who that leaves.
- I can't make Thursday's game.
- Which games are we short for this month?
Players don't need the assistant: they open the team's link and mark the games they can't make, and the schedule shows up in their phone's calendar. Rally works without the assistant too. Every form is there for the person who'd rather click.
Use the AI you already have
Rally is an MCP connector. Add https://rally.inputlogic.dev/api/mcp to Claude, ChatGPT or Grok, sign in once, and that assistant can read and update your teams and competitions, with exactly your permissions and nothing more. You can allow read-only access. Setup for each assistant.
What it won't do on its own
- Make anything public. Publishing is a separate step, and the assistant has to name the competition to do it.
- Delete a team or a competition without you confirming its exact name.
- Wipe results when it corrects a schedule. A fixture that comes back unchanged keeps its score.
- Decide a player's availability. Away and injured are the player's call.
Questions
- What is AI sports management?
- Software for running teams and leagues where you say what you want in plain words and an AI assistant does the clicking: creating the competition, entering teams and fixtures, recording results, adding practices, checking who's available. In Rally the assistant uses the same functions as the forms, so everything it does can be checked and changed by hand.
- Can the AI make my league's schedule?
- Yes. Ask for a round robin ("everyone plays everyone once, Sundays from March 2") or attach the schedule your league already has as a PDF and ask it to enter it. It previews the fixture list first, names anything that looks wrong (a team not on the roster, two games at once, a missing time), and new fixtures stay drafts until you publish them.
- Will it publish things without asking?
- No. Only publishing makes anything public, and the assistant has to name the competition to do it. Fixtures it adds to a competition that's already public wait as drafts for you to review.
- Do I need ChatGPT or Claude?
- Not to run a competition: Rally has an assistant built in for that, free. To manage a team by chat, connect the Claude, ChatGPT or Grok you already use (any plan that allows connectors). Everything also works through ordinary forms.
- What does it cost?
- Nothing. The built-in assistant is free, with a fair-use limit that a league's setup doesn't come near.
Compared with other tools
Most team and league software has no assistant, or puts one on the top tier. Rally against TeamSnap, LeagueApps, Spond, TeamLinkt and others, honestly, including where they're the better choice.
